Optional browser model

Capture the Vote does not call a hosted AI service. If you choose a model below, its files download to this browser and its replies are generated on this device. The game rules and score stay deterministic.

No model is loaded.

Browser storageChecking local storage…
Setup, privacy, and troubleshooting

Best match: start with Balanced on a recent desktop Chrome or Edge browser. Use Light if memory is limited. Strong needs substantially more memory.

First load: can take several minutes. Keep this tab open. The progress bar confirms that the download is moving.

Check: a successful health check prints a short reply and timing here. The header then says “Local AI ready.”

Sticky files: model files stay in this browser’s cache. A refresh unloads the model from GPU memory but keeps the cached files, so the next load is faster. Private browsing, storage pressure, or clearing site data can remove them.

Phones: WebGPU support and available memory vary. Scripted mode is the recommended phone experience and contains the entire game.
H.R. 4892 game brief

In this fictional scenario, H.R. 4892 would require notice and a meaningful human appeal when AI materially affects high-stakes decisions in work, housing, credit, education, or public services.

Why supporters want it

People should know when automation shaped a consequential decision, understand the reason, and reach a human who can correct an error.

Why opponents hesitate

Small employers fear paperwork, developers worry about trade secrets, and members do not want vague rules that chill ordinary software use.

The workable middle

Narrow triggers, outcome-focused explanations, safe harbors, templates, phase-ins, and clear human-review paths can protect people without requiring source-code disclosure.

How Congress may move

A meeting may lead to a staff memo, district roundtable, hearing question, amendment review, or coalition letter before it leads to a vote.
What this edition saves

Your handle, score, conversation, clues, and model preference are saved in this browser only. Refreshing preserves them. Clearing site data or using a different browser starts a new run.

The completion receipt is useful for your own debrief, but it is not a secure flag or proof for the closed 2026 competition. The honor roll remains a historical record.
